Dog Walking

We know – it is not always easy to get pooch out and about for that much needed exercise or for midday breaks. Our team can advise you on the best walk-times to keep your dog happy and healthy.

The service includes, but is not limited to:

  • Walks planned according to your schedule
  • Feeding and changing water
  • A walk adjusted to the needs of your dog
  • Cuddle and Play
  • Enrichment activities
  • Specialized care when required, like brushing the fur and/or teeth, administering medication, etc.

All our dog walkers are experienced with different behavioural difficulties like anxiety, and leash reactivity. They are knowledgeable on dog body language, and know how to guide your dog appropriately in situations that may occur during the walk.

Our service ensures that high standards of care and professionalism are continuously met and adhered to. During our consultation process, we will document your pet’s routine and ensure that all of your pet’s needs are met. After every walk, you will receive a visit report which includes a description of the walk and pictures, to keep you up-to-date about your beloved family member

*All training and handling methods used in our services are without the use of fear, force, or pain. This means that we do not use aversive tools such as slip leads, intimidation, threats, tactics that involve fear, or coercion, and work with positive reinforcement only.

We do not walk dogs on slip leads, choke chains, electronic collars or prong collars.

Why is it important to walk my dog?

Most people will be aware that their dog needs to go on walks so they get physical exercise which is needed to stay healthy. But walks are also important for mental stimulation, which is needed for them to stay happy and lead full-filling lives. For more information about mental stimulation during dog walks, have a look at our blog The importance of sniffing

How often should I walk my dog?

At least once a day, ideally twice a day but if you live in an apartment you may need to take your dog out more frequently for bathroom breaks.

How long should I walk my dog for?

This will depend on your dog keeping factors in mind like age, breed, energy level etc. It will also depend on the weather conditions. Advises on the total daily length of walks range vastly, but in the end they are just that, advises. We believe it’s most important to look at your dog and what they need to stay happy and healthy. Most dogs will need between 30 minutes to 2 hours of exercise daily.

Can I take my dog for a walk in any weather condition?

No, not all weather conditions are suitable for walking your dog. For example, walking your dog during a thunderstorm will be dangerous. Generally speaking, extreme weather conditions will make the weather unsuitable for dog walks, though depending on the type of extreme weather conditions, with precautions and extreme caution short walks might be doable.

What weather conditions should I be mindful of in the UAE for walking a dog?

As the UAE has a desert climate, temperatures especially in summer are extremely high. These high temperatures will increase the risk of heatstroke in our pets. Walks may be possible around sunset, sunrise, and at night, but mindfulness will be needed especially if the humidity is high. During the day, quick toilet breaks in the shade will be possible, but with care. Keep in mind that pavement and sand get extremely hot and can burn paws. If you can’t hold the back of your hand on the floor for 5 seconds because it’s hot, it’s too hot for your pet to walk on. Check our heat stroke guide for pets.

What will happen if I book a dog walk and it’s hot?

All our dog walkers are aware of the dangers of high temperatures. They will always keep the temperature in mind and adjust the walk accordingly. During times when it’s too hot for dogs to go for a walk, they will provide a fast toilet break in the shade, inside play, cuddles, and enrichment activities to ensure your dog is happy and fulfilled after the visit.

How can I make dog walking a fun activity for my dog?

There are loads of ways to make a dog walk fun and engaging for your dog. Scavenger hunts, sniffing walks, obstacle courses, just to name a few. Have a look at our blogs  “The importance of sniffing” and “Enrichment Ideas for Your Dogfor more activities you can do with your dog.

I see you offer dog walking packages, how long are they valid?

They don’t expire, nor do the walks have to be used or booked all at once.

Do you charge extra on holidays?

We have a surcharge of 50 AED For Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day, which goes in full to the dog walker of your pet.

My friend can look after/walk my dog for a few days, can you share the care on the days he can’t?

If the dog walks/visits are part of a care schedule when you are away this will not be possible. Our company policy is to not share care with third parties. This is because it will be impossible to determine a responsible party if anything goes wrong while a pet is in shared care.

Can my cleaner come clean when you're looking after my pet?

That is not an issue. If there are any specific instructions for letting the cleaner in, like leaving a door unlocked, please let us know beforehand.

Will it be the same dog walker for all visits?

We always try to make as little adjustments as possible when it comes to the dog walker that will visit your dog whilst they are in our care. During the weekend, the visits are covered by our weekend staff. Handovers are done to ensure your dog will get the care they require. When staff are on annual leave, are taking a day(s) off, or are sick, your dog will also have a different walker/caretaker. We understand that for some dogs this change might be stressful and introductions will be done if required.

How can I get the house key to the dog walker?

If a concierge or reception is available, keys can be left there for the dog walker to take. Another option is a lockbox on the outside of the apartment/house. A door can also be left unlocked (with keys inside). The dog walker can lock the door after each visit, and leave the keys inside with the door unlocked on the last visit. A key can also be hidden around the yard/house for the dog walker to take at the first visit. Depending on your preference, the key can be returned to the same spot after the last visit, or we can keep it for future visits. If the above is not possible, or when preferred, we can arrange a key pickup and/or key dropoff which costs 57.75AED.

What is the client portal?

Through the client portal on our website you can request and cancel bookings, view your booking schedule, upload pet information and pictures, and pay invoices.

Why is a consultation for new clients required?

For new clients a consultation will be required before we can make the booking. This way we can get to know your pet(s) and their routine, so we can provide them with the care they need and deserve.

Consultations are free of charge within office hours. We do appreciate that many of our potential clients work full-time, and can accommodate out-of-hour consultations on weekends, or weekdays after 5 pm. Out-of-hours consultations will come at a cost of 105 AED.

Does your staff receive training?

All our staff go through and receive regular training on a wide range of subjects pertaining to pet care so we can continue to provide premium pet services.

Can I get my updates over WhatsApp instead of email?

We use the Pet Sitter Plus software to book all our pet sits and dog walks. Updates regarding these visits done by the pet sitters and dog walkers are made into that same system. The software automatically shares these updates through email with the client that booked the service. By using this software, we can monitor the time our dog walkers spend at each address through GPS location, and read the updates they share through the system. Because of this, we choose to only provide updates through the Pet Sitter Plus software.
